Mobile Diabetic Announces Java(tm) Phone Application For Mobile Diabetes Management
Snohomish, WA -- October 19, 2004 - Mobile Diabetic, Inc. announced the release of mDiabetic Creator phone software, a new J2ME MIDlet application for wireless diabetes logbook management.
Many insulin dependent diabetics use a paper logbook to record blood glucose data. This routine may soon change with the release of a Java phone application from Mobile Diabetic.
"Our new Creator software runs on a mobile phone and connects mDiabetic members to their mobile web database without the use of a web browser," said Eric Blanchet, Chief Technology Officer of Mobile Diabetic. "Using a mobile phone application reduces the effort in creating a historical blood glucose database through mDiabetic."
Simplifying the process of recording and tracking glucose data is a cornerstone of mDiabetic web services. "Our web logbook has gone beyond a functional concept by focusing on end-user situations and customer needs."
Security is a key issue with transporting medical data. Mobile Diabetic has implemented MIDP-2 standards for secure data transmission and a code signing certificate for over-the-air installation of the software. Extensive testing was performed through the Java Verified(tm) program to ensure software stability and reliability with Motorola(tm) v300 mobile phones.
Development for Bluetooth(R) connectivity is also planned for the near future. "As glucose meters move away from cables to wireless communication we will provide true mobility for diabetic patients. Creator is a solid foundation to start with and our members should find it convenient, especially with carbohydrate tables from the US Department of Agriculture."
